                                                      Mike

well it has a Serial #,

and initials ,

so presumably it was a professional who paid his govt. taxes.

So it may be traceable vs. a transient backyard shaper who may not have bothered

with a serial no, and wasnt doing it long enough to bother with Uncle Sam. (US taxes).

I never could understand the serial numbering system I saw on surfboards.

Never had a year designation, and some numbers were so high, I knew

that a certain shaper hadnt done that many boards and I’d occasionally

compare serial no’s in adjacent years and it just didnt make sense.

Whats the story on Serial No’s and their use???

Being a former statistician, during WWII , the Americans(Uncle Sam) were able to guess

accurately at Russian and German Tank strength just by looking at serial numbers

on captured tanks…they were sequential 1,2,3…100,101,…whatever.

Using engine #'s, certain part#'s, etc, a random sampling of captured and destroyed tanks, through statistics, revealed their production numbers.

Of course, every Army and Defense contractor in the world is aware of this now!

…Something to think about.
