7'11 midlenght project

Start a new surfboard long build. Not often those days, most of my friends stop surfing because to much people in water nowadays that make surfing boring and frustrating. So they moved to suping, foiling, winging and me to windsurf racing. Have to build way more complicated boards, i like it…
Come back to this project:
A strong surfboard with plenty volume for crawded beachbreack from 1 to 3m sometimes hollow, sometimes mellow. Experienced heavy and brutal surfer, my best board breaker.
So start by building blank

1.5lb eps with inserted carbon springer top and bottom, 12oz UD carbon 1 inch wide, 1/4 inch deep. 7’11"x22"x3"1/8

Today it’s hand shape session.
Hotwires, surform sanding blocks and screen et voilà :

Very nice.
Stringerless? EPS? Foam density?
Looks like this will be a twin fin.
Where are you placing those fin bases?
Distance from tail tip?
Distance from rail?
Toe-in?

Nice dude! That thing is sick. The stringer is awesome.

2x Springer = 12oz UD carbon 1"inch wide 1/4" inch deep under the surface that will be connected to lamination with epoxy foam filling grooves when i seal blank. 1.5# eps.

That will be a 5 fins option= thruster + quad.
Front fin, back dot: 300mm 27mm, 25mm toe in at nose. Draw it here for channel shape.

Bottom lam

Lightweigt Epoxy mastic seal then 5oz biax glass lam with epoxy slurry then 4oz warp+ 5oz UD strip then epoxy mastic cheater coat.

Can I pick your brain why you put the channel in that specific board?
Asking because I was going to make a similar guestimate to improve a similar sized board, but being an idiot I have decision making issues.
What’s the tail width?
Cheers
Jasper

Tail width 38cm
Bottom is flat with channels. Customer choice.

Lam first deck coat

10oz biax glass black tint with a white cheater coat

Prep for next step:

0.6mm ash wood will be glue under vaccum.

With 4oz warp over it’ll be realy strong. Rider is over 100kg and brutal, need strong deck.

Looks good, what size pump are you using for this? How much vacuum do you need? I’m hoping to set up myself one day!!!

Homemade pump with a fridge pump and a regulatuion system make with a vacuum capsule from an old car, a coil and a switch.
I use this set up for 35 years, build airplane RC then boards. Up to -0,7 bar. For wood bagging like here -0,4 bar is enough.

Yeah those refrigerator pumps were what a lot of guys started with. And if it works don’t fix it. Nice work on that board. Did you do the white cheater coat immediately after you laminated?

Been getting a few blanks from Marko with White PVC stringers. Same look. Really strong of course. I’ve never shaped a PVC stringered blank so don’t know how they cut.

It’s not a pvc stringer, what you see is a eps cap over the carbon ud springer that seat about 7 mm under surface.

Yes. Understood.

Oh thanks for Lemat. I have an old refrigerator pump that I need to figure out how to get working. Is the vacuum capsule from the brake cylinder or is from the distributor?

ignition advance capsule

Oh wow interesting. I’d love to see how your set up works. I’m assuming the vacuum cannister activates the switch to switch off when a certain vacuum is achieved then switches on again if the vacuum drops?

Yes exactly.

Instead of the syringe i use the canister.
