Blank is a Marko 7’6" 1.9 lb. Dimensions are 7’2"x 11x 19 1/8"x 11 3/8"x 2 5/8". The board is sealed with a Q-sil epoxy mix and is ready for airbrush. I’ll post more pictures as it progresses. I really wanted to make one of those narrow super gunny blades but my 200lbs had the final say. Maybe my next one will be a bit narrower. Planning on a single 6 bottom with a 6+4+4 deck with Aluzine epoxy.
Thank you Swaylock’s you da best!
nice. where you riddin’ it?
North shore of Kauai. This board is meant as a replacement for my tri fin 7’2". I’m jumping on the 4 fin bandwagon hard. After making a 6’7" I was blown away at the speed and the ability of the board to ride such a high line. I was reluctant to make it too narrow because of the rampant over gunning of the crowds, especially at the bay.
Board looks nice and gunny.
Here’s some pics of my 7’-1" Stretch quad that I brought to Hanalei and rode for the first time at Middles. Ooooo 'da nice. Other dims: 18-1/2" x 2-1/2".
Can’t wait to get back…
Nice shape. Myself, I’m a gun lover so I was easily won over.
A couple of things I’ll mention. One, Greg Loehr recommends spackle to seal if you’re going to do airbrush. If you’re going to airbrush with waterbased paints he warns NOT to use additive F. The paint will bead on the microballoon surface. So if you used add F you may want to reconsider airbrushing.
Two- I did the exact same glass schedule on a 6’-3" (with 2 lb. EPS) and it buckled in a crash tube on a fairly small wave (head high). I think the lip hit the nose and the bottom buckled. Since your board is a gun and I’m assuming you’ll be taking it out in bigger waves, personally I’d go with 6/4 on the bottom. The weight won’t be an issue on a gun.
Great shape. Keep us posted.
