7'3 Egg dimensions?

Gonna shape up my first board. It’ll be a 7’3" egg.

Here are the dimensions I’m thinking of:

Nose: 16 3/4

Width: 22 7/8

Tail: 15 1/2

Thickness: 2 3/4

Rails are going to be 60/40 into tucked under hard edge in the last 16". Will be a 9" boxed single fin.

Do you think I’m on the right track? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for all the replies.

Rich

Do you think I’m on the right track? Yes.

Any suggestions? Scour the archives. Write out the steps. Keep your sense of humor intact and a few cold ones handy for when you’re done. And have fun! (apologies for that last little bit of unnecessary rhyming–looks like I’ve been taking my own advice about the cold ones).

I’m no pro.

Standard longboards in my part of town are aprox 23" wide.

Your dimensions and fin set-up sound fine but don’t be surprised of you get called a “fun board” or “mini Log”

My favorite boards are the 7’ to 7’ 6" tri fin eggs. But not quite that wide.

Check resources. Check archives. Check out surfshops. Shape a board. Be proud. Have fun!

Ray

if ya surf point waves, try 17" 22.25" 15.25"…i think you will get more forward drive that way.

Have you been to the Harbour website perhaps? I ask because those are the exact dimensions of the Harbour Spherical Revolver I own at 7’4".

I think you’ll like it. The revolver gets great reviews from all who surf it, including me. It picks up waves so easily that it has pretty much replaced my longboard even on small days and on the other end, I’ve had it out on some pretty big days and it handles it well enough - I surf it with a big, raked back fin (by Harbour). Of course it won’t move like a true shortboard, but if you are into the glide and smooth turns and cutbacks, it’s perfect.

if youre in sb like your name says, check the used boards at the beach hut on state st. im selling a 7’3" hobie egg there on consignment…if you go lookin for it, its an eggshell green.
