7'9" Big Boy Thruster(Polishing without a net)

Well…I’ve been working on this board on and off for the last three months when I’m in town. Its 7’9" 13 3/4" x 21 1/4" x 15 1/4" x 3" thick. While finishing the polishing, I literally was down to my last passes around the base on my fins when the polisher caught a fin and helicoptererd the board off the rack. I was able to catch the nose of the board against the shaping racks while I watched in slow motion the back left tail hit the concrete driveway(see damage in pics)… I almost puked…IM still sick… but it could have been worst. Here she go’s…

Hey Bob,

The polish and board looks great. I almost tossed one off the rack myself this weekend. It sucks but what are you going to do?

Hey big boy!!

Very nice job

That should be an easy fix

when you repair it the resin color on the rails should blend back in well

well done

Damn that is one nice looking result!

Helping a big buddy of mine with a 7’9 eps except his is a wider small wave board, rocket fish type.

Dont sweat the ding, anything is fixable.

That board is too shiny to surf!

Austin,

Thanks for the kind words my friend. So even the veterans at polishing throw off a board occasionally… I dont feel quite so bad. Ill be back in town for a couple weeks around x-mas time, hopefully that 12’0" will be in and I can swing by and check out some of your new creations.

Bob

Kensurf,

Thanks!

I will have to step away and stew awhile before i fix that ding. I missed a good swell because of it…

Craftee,

My boys want me to make this one a wall hanger…NOT! I did a 7’8" rocket fish a few years ago that I stretched out to 24" wide. I wish that i would have kept it closer to 23" wide by about 7’6". Please post pics when you build it…
