I am designing my next eps/veneer board. I have some maple and teak veneer left over from a job and I want to make a performance long board.
I am thinking about using the same rocker and foil as the Clark 9’ 1" Y blank
featured in the catalogue. I might thin it out a little, maybe take 1/4" of the deck. Would this be to much foam? Or would you take a lot more of the blank? I like the rocker I am really concerned about thickness.
from looking at the catalog, pulling a 1/4" out would still leave the blank at more than 3" before you added the wood. Depending on your size (working from memory of prior posted pic, guess 5’10" 180#), I’d suggesting targetting a finished thickness of 3" or maybe even thinner.
Yes I want to have a finish thickness of around 3" in the middle. My last board was 3" thick but only 1 3/4" in the nose and 1 7/8" at the tail.
Does it make sense to foil the blank so that I keep the 9’ 1" Y rocker as is but take 3/8" out of the middle and 1/4" from the nose and tail at the deck.
That would leave me with 2" of foam at the nose and 1 7/8" at the tail.
Those would be my finish dimensions after I add veneer and glass.
