9' Fish?

How would a 9’ Fish ride? If you stretched out a 6’10" for an older surfer to add to his quiver what sort of performance could be expected? Walking? noseriding? fish style manoeverability? Dimensions would be 9’2"x18Nx23Wx16"T with 11" tips and 7" deep cut, keel or similar fins.

It’d ride fine. All you are doing is making a swallow tail funboard with two fins.

Calling it a fish is something like calling a RangeRover a compact car.

Probably go down the line pretty fast…

not too sure about the noseriding.

There are plenty of established “big fish” out there… Eaton, Frye, Ace have done similar shapes, quads, bonzers, etc. Actually, I saw a cool Frye that had a “swish” tail–bigger than a swallow, not quite a fish. Looked like a ton of fun.

I have a 9’2’ twinzer that I like. 95s blank, 14.6 nose

Responsive, doesn’t ride like a longboard.

I like these because you can turn them.

i remember Quiet Flight in florida USED to sell a 9’ board with a fish tail. they don’t sell them any more, and in fla you need every advantage you can get in the summer. i don’t think they sell them anymore. claude cogden’s longboards with a squash tail have proven to be an excellent board. but like always, its how and where you surf that gives the desired effect.

It’s no longer a Fish, it becomes a Whale. It becomes a Long Board with a swallow tail. A 9ft fish looses all the atributes of a fish. I would say anything over 6’9" is no longer a fish, it becomes a hybrid / fun board / Fun Gun or whatever, but it is no longer a fish…a fish is a slightly stretched knee board.
