95 degrees Fahrenheit and EPoxy...

Yeah, so it’s really hot here, and I’m worried about the 95 deg. day I might be glassing…

I should just not do that, huh?

Do it in the morning before it gets really hot…but even then, it’s likely to be 80 or 85…

Maybe pop the AC unit out of my window and take it over to the shack…

I’m also worried about bubbles

But I just thought I’d post up and see if anyone had any thoughts about that kind of extreme heat

Loehr’s long-time stuff…?

I glassed a 9’7 last week at 85*degreeish and it was fine

yesterday I glassed a 9’0 at 90 degrees and it kicked a bit too fast, had to make some changes to save it : (.

95’s might kick a bit too fast unless you were working on some sub 6’0 board or having a partner helping you.

oh btw this is the 2:1 epoxy from fiberglass hawaii Im using

I’ve been glassing this week in the mid-nineties, no problem. Been using the slow for the big complicated lams, and medium for smaller stuff.

Be sure and seal your blank – use a slow or extra slow epoxy. A fast epoxy will blush out at high temps – take appropriate measures.

My 2 cents-

I don’t know where you’re located but I glassed a board in Southern California about a month ago when we were experiencing a major heat wave (at one point a city in the Valley reached 119 degrees F- I told my wife, “If it reaches 120 we’re going there, just to say we know what 120 degrees is like.” Unfortunately (?) the following day went down to like 112.)

Anyways, I was working in a garage that had to be over 90 degrees. I never had problems using RR epoxy with slow hardener. 40 minutes plus working time.
