A brother reaching out............

Ive debated for a few weeks on bringing this forward…hope I dont regret it.

Recently my 21 y/o son was busted for selling drugs.

Looks like he’s goona get around a year in the state prison.

Ive never served time and Im kind of at a loss as to what to say to him…besides “I love you son”.

Ive never been to jail/prison and Ive no idea what its like.

He tells me one of the things he misses is just going out surfing and paddling with his pa.

Anyways, I hope that this experience will open his eyes and start a pattern of better decision making. I feel that he is vulnerable and open to wisdom and the friendship of people who can help guide him.

What I was wondering is if there are any brothers (or sisters) here who have served prison time and were changed by it and they would be interestyed in writing to my boy. Or even some of the older guys who have wisdom and life experience and feel they have something to help guide a young man. Anyways, if y’all are interested let me know and Ill PM you his address.

My cousin went in a basehead, with 3 DWI’s and a bunch of scars.

I don’t remember the whole post- process, but he came out, got straight, slipped a couple times, got straight again, owns his own business, participates in his recovery community very very regularly, makes way more money than anyone in our family ever has, and is having a baby girl with his beautiful sweet wife in 6 mos. He just bought a house and moved in.

Take that for what it is, and Good luck to you and yours, brother.
