Okay first my dims: 6’1" x 150
All the noseriders i have ever owned have been 9’6" and everyone I surf with have boards either that size or smaller.
So i was talking to a shaper about ordering a board and when i said 9’6" he said are you sure you dont want to go longer?
So that got me thinking is their any well to tell if you should be riding a board say 9’9" without actually riding one?
Also what is the difference in a board 3" thick versus a board that is 3 1/8" thick but with thinned out rails.

If nothing else, it will be an intersting experiment. If you do try it, report back on what you find to be your perfect noserider length based on your natural gait and how it compares to boards you currently ride. Right now, the closest thing I have to a “noserider” is 10’0". I’m 5’10", 180 lbs.
As far as thickness goes, if you’re only 150 lbs, then I would think 3" is plenty…
Consider length to be only one of many factors that will affect how the board noserides. You’ve also got to consider rocker (tail kick?), bottom contours (i.e. concaves), fins (placement, template, foil), weight, width, etc.
Lots of different boards in lots of different lenghts and shapes can noseride well. For example, CJ Nelson’s noseriders are at one end of the spectrum: long, wide and flat (a 9’9" tongue depressor comes to mind). At the other end is a kid like Alex Knost whose boards typically have more of a late 50s pig-shape. They’re shorter (around 9’4", I think), have a narrower nose, wide point set back. Both surfers noseride phenominally on both boards.
Try some of your friends boards and see what feels right FOR YOU.
I have a 9’6" bing nose rider and my friend has the 9’9"(Ceteras Perabus)the shorter can turn and is a much better all round board. the longer noserides anything and is much more stable. We both weigh about as much as you but are both a hair shorter, me being about 5’11" and him being a hair under 6 ft.
