A Few EPS Questions?

  1. precut? looks pretty good. Going Home Depot would save alot of $$ but isn’t hotwiring iffy unless you know what you’re doing? Also, have to put a stringer in…

  2. weight for a fish - as I make my fish traditional heavy i.e. 5’9" = 9lbs, how can I weight the EPS blank? Heavier glass? Thicker stringer?

  3. Sealing? One seal or two? Squeegy a mixture of epoxy/hardener and micro baloons? Thanks!

  4. Gloss coat - used epoxy last year and the gloss came out so-so. Any ideas to get a more poly like shine?

Thanks!

Not a whole lot of experience with the materials but:

  1. this is preference.

  2. Yes and Yes

  3. Don’t seal. Sealing blanks is mostly to keep boards light, but this doesn’t sound like an issue for you since you like a heavier board.

  4. Additive F

Archives???

hotwireing is not that hard and the savings are huge

buy a massive block of the required density

blanks cost me in NZ 25$ so thats a bout 17$us

hot wire is cheap and easy to build

ther is a fair bit of info in the archives

and model makers know shit loads
