a question regarding the measuring of a boards thickness

just trying to get a concensus. when shaping a board with a final thickess of, lets say for sake of discussion, 2 1/4’’ … do you take the measure the thickness prior to putting in the bottom contour (concave) so that the board is actually less than 2 1/4’’ or do you leave the board a little thicker and then add the concave so that the board will be 2 1/4’’ when finished? just curious. if you would care to add your reason why, that would be fabulous too.

I take it from the thickess point befote I do the bottpn shape so, and begor it is glassed, I guess it could work out a little thinner, never really thought about it like that, I guess the glass would add a little thickness too, so maybe that evens it out.
