A semi gun quad attempt.

Here´s my second ever shape done with manual tools all the way through. She´s a 6.10 semi gun, hopefully to be FCS quad if I can sort it out. Any recommendations, criticism and advice more than welcome.

Any tips on fin placement?

Looks good! I’d start with 6" and 12" up from the tips, just for round numbers. Toe in about 3" off the stringer.

Me personally, I’d try to foil down the butt crack area a bit with a round file, rasp, dremel, or what have you. But it’s as much for looks as anything else.

Hey Keith. Thanks for the tips. I glssed the bottom with 6oz and epoxy and was quite happy with it when it was going on but when I went back after it had kicked the weave was really evident. Any suggestions? Will this be covered by the hot coat?

yup it sure will. you may have heard the hot coat reffered to as the fill coat?

i had the same shock with my board.

how did you find the epoxy? think i might use it next time

Having only ever used Epoxy ´m not in much of a position to comment! The best tip I have had so far was to warm the resin up a bit before mixing it with the catalyst. It´s much more maleable. You can move it around a lot easier. It´s a full on Rio summer at the moment so it kicked really quickly, in about 20 minutes!

How did this board go for you?

Works well in ankle snappers and also in lumpy 6 foot beach break conditions, which is what it was made for originally. Gets me into the wave nice and early and has a solid feel going down the line.
