Or for that matter when longboards lost the name “surfboard” and became “longboards”.

It was called a fish at least as early as 1972 in an interview with Steve Lis in Surfer or Surfing or whatever…

I agree with drew. I don’t like the turn this thread took and I applaud those who brought it back on topic.
Now, what fins would work best for the modern fish? What about rocker and concave options?
Ok, whatever. So some surfboards (and kneeboards) have been called fish for nearly 30 years. If its not about the widepoint, than what other aspect of the design made it “look like a fish”. Jeez, lighten up. The fact remains that, out of all surfboards, these little short, thick guys with wide point forward most closely resemble the kayaks and sailboats which are called “fishform”. That’s all I was trying to say. sheesh. shaking head

It seems to me that your going to get awfully hungry riding that board. If not, you’ll certainly scare the hell out of all the little ocean creatures that are looking up at their deceased family members, nicely displayed on little beds of rice and wrapped up comfy in a seaweed blanket.
That’s it, I’m going back to Sumo’s tonight.

is that Welsh?? because if it is, i think the gist of it is something to the effect of “guys…shut your mouths unless you’re positive you’re right”…or something like that.
and by the way, “poncing” is not a word (at least not in english)…but whatever you think it means, i’m sure that retroman and i stopped quite a long time ago.
1/8 and then through the surfacing planer, just barely taking anything off. 4 oz above & below the wood.
And yes, I get hungry for Hamachi every time I see it. 
The cloth is just cotton fabric. I squeegeed a very light layer of resin onto the wood, just enough to stick down the cloth but not saturate it. Then laid on the glass cloth & laminated like usual. Didn’t get any air bubbles, movement, or other weirdness. It all saturated nicely & seems to have stuck together…

Something fishy going on here. Can’t quite put my finger on it. Oh, well, maybe it doesn’t matter.

Since we talking about traditional fish. here is one of mine I made out of busted up longboard I found in trashcan at the beach…Ray (Stingray) glassed it up for me.
thats the best longboard conversion I’ve ever seen.

by the way poncing = pretending to be clever in an efette manner - like ponces do!
My favourite fish has actually got a pintail! - I’ll take a piccy of it, it feels like it turns smoother than a swallow tail - haven’t seen many others like it.
