Accurate planer - Sacred Craft show

I do believe that, not bagging them at all, just a shame, thats all

I’ve been waiting one year before ordering one, hoping for a 220V version but it didn’t come. Matt explained to me that such a small volume of tools built didn’t financially justify it. Although I’m sure that more than a few european shapers would have been interested (still are). Oh well, I was already using a converter with my Skil, so it’s not a big bother.

Received mine yesterday and will give it a test run today. Will let you know…

Damn Balsa, that does look nice.

I’ll look forward to seeing it in person over the weekend…

It’s yours to try, Jeffrey. It will be on the racks of the shaping booth at “Surfing Art”.

The motor that we use in the planer can only be wired for 110. Currently a converter is needed to run it overseas, but we are trying to source a motor that can be wired both ways. This would be ideal as the planers are very expensive to make due to their small runs and this would enable us to wire it to the specific need. As the popularity grows we might be able to even consider a 240v specific motor if the other one can’t be found, but obviously having to source two different motors is less than ideal and can only be done if the need supports it.

As an aerospace parts manufacturer and high-end fishing reel maker, this is our first foray into the planer/power tool/shaping market. This is also the first version of the planer and like our fishing products, it too will see changes and improvements as time goes by. The planers evolution from idea to working tool was born from the industry’s feedback and that feedback will continue to shape it’s evolution.

Thanks Matt,

Put me down for one when you get a 240v motor going.

These planers are very nice and seem to be the premier tool for shaping. Very well made. At that price point and quality claims and level, carbide blades should be standard equipment. As the tool is a step up from others, so should the cutters be. The difference in price in the two cutters is negligable at the price range of retail tools.

To me, the quality of the tool requires a quality cutter and carbide blades would complete the package. And to go one step forward, the cutters would be the spiral type similar to a Porter Cable 126 door planer. Smoother cuts. It shaves rather than gouges.

But then again, I really don't know dick. I've got a Hitachi.

good reply matt
