Just a thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience with us on the various sites. I am not a frequent poster but a very frequent reader and have gained a lot of knowledge and enjoyment from your postings over the months and years. I think many would be in agreement. Your commitment and time is appreciated.
Halcyon was the guy that drew me into Swaylocks. It was his post for the argument of wide tails that caught my eye. Soon after that we started a dialog and he shared some numbers for a template idea for an 8’6 performance board. I still have that template and refer to its curves often. One of his fins, a 9” Luxe, is more or less permanently placed in the box of a board I use often. When I load up Swaylocks on a given day and 50 new posts have arrived, Halcyon’s is amongst the ones I check first.
Yeah, Rich is a good guy[smile]
Rich has inspired me with his designs and knowledge. He designed a sweet speed platter for me and fins for a couple of my boards.Rich freely shares his experience and has gone out of his way to help me with board and fin design.Nice guy that we’re lucky to have here.
…Rich is Cool,we talk via email regularly.Herb
Rich is great for bouncing ideas around and he throws down a mean couplet now and then…Thanks Rich, continue the research.
Thanx to all. When I first came on this forum I’d just started back surfing after about 25 years away for it. No autobiography here but my new beginnings in surfing are a boon to my health and attitude. Surf-craft design and development is part of who I am, my life just took me a away from it for a while. I want everyone to know that I greatly appreciate all the support I receive here. I’ve learned a ton from all the knowledgeable surfers and craftsman here at Swaylocks. Mike has done us all a huge favor by making the conception of this forum a reality and keeping it alive. Some craftsmen prefer to guard their secrets, cause they’re afraid someone will steal something. I figure that when I discover something it’s a gift. Sure I had to work for it but sometimes it’s just what I call a happy accident. Over the years I’ve come to learn that sharing ideas opens up more avenues for discovery and enjoyment. To sum it up it seems to me that and inclusive experience is a far more enhancing one than and exclusive one, so thanx including me. Research and Development continues, Rich
Rich’s fins have changed the way I surf my boards. He is an incredible resource and a class guy!
I don’t know about the fins, but I certainly like his words-especially re “gifts”. Sounds like a classy person. Patrick
I also have learned heaps from Rich. Have one of his mentals too. On top of getting a great fin, Rich was always patient, knowledgable, generously informative, and downright stoked on surfing. A true craftsman, he takes pride in his creations and genuinely wants to know how they work. Thanks Rich! The fin is going great, rode it in punchy head-high beachbreak a week ago, with the leading edge all the way up in the same spot as the tk! Now I can overpower it at will, or just drive through long clean turns, just had to really focus on the weight distribution the first few turns. Very smooth rail to rail. Stoked.
