Acrylic Finish Procedure

I have a new board which has a sanded finish and the builder forgot to do the sanded finish I paid for . I don’t want to send it back to Cal from florida for this … How can I “Seal” the board myself ? I have heard that Future floor acrylic will work . Can anyone tell me the procedure ? PLEASE…

where in fl are you??? and you paid for just an acrylic finish???

South Florida … I ordered an acrylic finish and got just a sanded one without the acrylic. This was on a new board I ordered from Cal… Why is that confusing ?

…try the archives, …this one has been discussed many times.Herb

I know this is in the archives but just in case you can’t find it, here’s my recollection of it – if wrong I’m sure others will correct me!! You need a liquid acrylic to apply to your hotcoated board, after it’s been sanded. Acrylic floor finishes are pretty cheap and readily available. I’ve used “Future” brand floor finish that I bought at a supermarket in a quart size squeeze bottle, but I recall Herb says he’s also used “Mop 'N Glo” and other brands bought at discount stores (Smart & Final) in the janitorial sizes (1 gallon). Basically you squirt the finish on the hot coat, spread it around smoothly, let it dry. Scrub it down lightly with a dry Scotchbrite pad (particularly, I found, on the rails where drips will form and dry up into lumps). Repeat the whole process 2-3 times, depending on how lazy you are. Buff to a nice finish if you care to. This will seal any pinholes in the sanded hotcoat. I do the whole board (top & bottom) this way but have heard others say just do rails & bottom, not to bother with the deck as it will be waxed anyway.

Howzit Longboard, yesterday I used a new product (new for me) I got from Fiberglass Hi… It’s acrylic thinner for water based acrylic paint,But it’s also a sealer. It works really good and if you apply 3 or 4 coats it can be buffed to a shine. All you do is sponge it on and let it dry, cost me $14.00 for a gal. Aloha, Kokua

Thanks To Everybody for the help I’m gonna try the Future … What can it hurt . Aloha…
