Acrylic stick to hotcoat?

So I’ve seen surfboards spraypainted, but has anyone painted on the outside hotcoat of a finished board with acrylic paints? Any way to make it stick besides glassing over the paint?

rough up the hotcoat, paint, seal it with acrylic (even the spray on stuff works).
