Adding a Lam

I see there is a parallel discussion occurring regarding DIY lams, but I have a question about adding lams to a previously glassed board:

I recently shaped a board for a local kid and THEN he went out and got himself a local sponsor. No surf industry giant, but of course he’s stoked and wants to get that lam on his new board ASAP.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I’m wondering if I could rough sand the existing glass, put the lam on the deck under a 4oz cloth patch just large enough to cover it with a little extra all around, pour over the patch, and fair it out as best I can. Obviously it will change the dynamics of the board by a hair, but do you think he’s worried about that?

Any assistance is appreciated.

That’s exactly how to do it. Nice guess!

It also works when you want a lam visible but you’re glassing in color.

You can even get some 2oz and lam it over with that.

Howzit hummingfinn, Does it have to be laminated on the board? Might be a lot easier to get some window decal sheets (Avery brand) and print some stickers for the board, I buy it a K mart. Even the pros put their sponser decals on their boards since the boards come with only the board making sponser lammed on the board.Aloha,Kokua
