Adhesive for Wood Vaneer on EPS SUP

Hey Everyone, I am working on an 11’ EPS SUP. This is a quick turnaround build and I had trouble sourcing anything other than 1# EPS.

It is my first time working with 1# and I am thinking of laminating the deck with 1/16” of maple to avoid pressure dings. It is a flat deck and I am thinking of using sandbags to apply pressure rather than a vacuum bag, since I don’t know if I’ll be doing another laminated deck. I plan on glassing over the deck once inlayed.

Are there any fatal flaws in the approach, if not, has any one used gorilla glue for the wood/eps interface rather than epoxy?

Gorilla glue is fine on epoxy. Try to get the non-expanding kind. I had a stringer blow out when gluing one up years ago with that type.

Why Gorilla rather than epoxy?

once a manufacturer of eps blocks told me if i wanted he could sell me a special glue for eps that he has on store, but he also told me that if i didn’t want to buy expensive stuff that i could just use the normal white wood glue.

anyway what i glued up i used pu glue because i was going to hotwire after glued.

i used ceys d4 pu glue (very happy with the result)

cheers and good waves.
