advice - best fin for 9'0 log

I have read some good info on here in regards to longboard fins however l am looking for some opions, advice, etc. I just had a 9’0 made for me by a local shaper, I am 30 yrs old 5 foot 7, 160lbs. The goal was a small wave log for NJ. Single fin, 3" thick, minimal rocker, rounded rails - this board won’t see many waves over waist high. i would like to progress noseriding as well. My issue is, I have been struggling with which fin/size fin to run. My previous longboards were all 2+1 setups (I always ran them that way too), and I never used a fin over 6.5 " due to this. So this is my first true single fin. I picked up a Futures Salty Bamboo 9.25" pivot style fin for cheap so thats what I currently use. Man this fin is different! Still getting used to it, but can’t help think there is something better for my style/log…hit me with some knowledge! Thx!

I have read that Greenough fins are magical, but again I don't think I need a fin designed for bigger surf.

True ames California classic is great for nose riding…

rvb, This is a 9" Sparkey noserider fin. Comes in 8.5,9.0,9.5,10.0,11.0 sizes. Feel free to check out our other fins at www.ProBox-Larry.blogspot.com Mahalo, Larry

anyone have any input on the greenough 4a and 4c for a small wave log?

I just picked up this new fin (picture). It’s my favorite one I’ve ridden from personal experience. It suits the more archy style turns I found, and will keep you locked in when walking around, if that’s what you’re into.

A Greenough fin would not be my choice for a noserider style Board.  Just look how Grennough surfed his Kneeboard.  The fin was designed for to carve turns and ride deep in the pocket.

I’m 3" taller than you, same weight but twice your age+4.  This is my favorite retro log fin:

Noserides great but has more drive out of turns than a more upright, pivot fin (which is what I used to have on the board).
