advice on pricing a board.

Hello everyone,

a friend of a friend is selling a surfboard and wants to give me first dibs before she posts it on craigslist . I am not one who is good at bargaining and not an expert on surfboard prices. can someone help me out on what is fair for the price of this board. asap

I think a shot that would show any damage, such as rail dings, fixed or not, and a photo which would better show any possible heel and toe dents on the Deck and any pressure dings on Hull would get you a better answer From those in the Know.

Also post a pic of the dimensions and signature.

I don’t know. I only go into surfshops for wax, leashes or rashguards.

I will give you my $.02, looking at the 1 pic of the board and the fact that the fin is clean tells me the rest of the board most likely is. Board, fin and bag if you can buy that for $600 or less I would think you are doing pretty good. Btw it looks like a fun shape.

I agree, if you can get everything for $500 it would be a good buy. as long as there are no major dings

That looks like a fun board to have. I think that may be a model for Jericho Poppler, and it may be a special board. Jericho is a pro surfer from the late 60’s - 70’s surfer with a graceful style.
Sadly, Jericho’s daughter died here in the islands a couple of weeks ago. She was riding with her boyfriend and they went off the road and hit a tree.

Sad to hear this news about her daughter. I also believe it’s a Jericho Poppler model. I tried searching more about the board in order to help me price it but found nothing on this model. I have never ridden a board with this type of tail and from what I gathered it looks like a board meant for medium to bigger waves. Would this board be good at Pacifica/Lindamar California break?

I will let her know that it is a little out of my price range and she can go ahead and list it on C.L. Thanks for your advice.

$300 for a bro deal and $500 on cl. For best bet board = I see a lot of wavestorms out at Lindamar. All jokes aside that’s a nice fun shape that will work right anywhere with the right tude

there are tons of people out and many surf schools on the weekends. I have seen many collisions and a few fights at LM. I get out to OB on chest to head high days and do 6am sessions before the crowds. I live much closer to LM and head there pretty much 4-5 days a week.

Hardly a big wave shape. Looks like a decent mid length design that could work OK in overhead surf Slightly more refined than a typical “fun shape”

That board looks like you could easily surf solid overhead waves. Nice pulled in tail on there, and the wide point is far up. I wouldn’t call that a good board for a beginner. Not sure what level of surfer you are, but here in Hawaii that board would be a nice one to have. I would at least ask what the owner wants, and if it’s out of your range, so be it.
I did a quick search for that board and came up blank. It may be a custom made for her. If you do buy it, you should try to find Jericho and have her sign it. That would add value. She is one of a handful of important women surfers during the 70s, and the beginning of the pro surfing tour.

all you guys have been great and have really helped me price this board. I forward this discussion to my friend and was honest about my price range. I have not heard back nor have I seen it posted on C.L . I consider myself an intermediate surfer, comfortable with head high surf, mostly a longboarder, been surfing for 6 years , get out 4-5 days a week. able to ride the face of a wave, can bottom turn on a longboard, both directions. Practicing to cross step is my current priority. I surf LM(lindamar), O.B, Cowells and pleasure point in Santa Cruz. I think I am ok. I think I have great wave recognition and catch plenty of waves. I would love to me Jericho if possible. I also did a search on this board and came up with NADA!
