Just saw this on Korduroy - it would appear that the boards are made from solid agave the guy mills himself - even more impressive is that, by the looks of the video anyway he doesn’t really seal the boards with anything? They look to be pretty dry when he puts it in the water so that’s just my assumption.
Anyone ever shape a board from solid agave before?
miguelaragao is the main contributor of photos on that thread [which is why I posted the agave surfboards video thread today , with his name featured !!]
of course , also .... google search " gary linden" , and "agave surfboards" ...
and barry snyder here has done them , as I'm sure have others ....
okay ...I hope this helps , 'Shu' ?
cheers !

p.s. - didya ever find the missing go pro ?? I HOPE SO ! [ if not ? ...it's probably worth engraving your name and phone number on the next one you get ? ]
Did not find the gopro unfortunately - it was a friends so I dont think his name was on here - definitely doing the engraving thing when I get my hero 3 though… Also, trying to explore construction techniques to prevent a full snap and maybe less lost gopros
...mount it on your forearm or bicep , mate . That way , unless your arm gets ripped clean off [ monty python , "in search of the holy grail " , also , 'aunty jack' ??] , you will always have the camera WITH you ! *
and , yes , re: agave ...what keith wrote ...you DEFINATELY want to glass the stuff [which is why I had a bit of a chuckle at the 'mr. natural' nature of the video , good though it was ! [they didn't show him GLASSING it , DID they ?! ha]
cheers

* you DID look at the "go pro setups" thread of 'oneula's , yes ? [I'm assuming !]
Mick, this plant grows for 10-15 years. Only at the end of its life, it grows a stalk. It actually grows about 1 foot a week. Starts at spring and grows all summer long. Some grow to 30 feet and are as big around as a basketball.
The "Blue Agave " variety grow the biggest.
I have many types growing in my yard. I have a “Green” Agave in my front yard now. (Only 15 feet).
This is the same plant they make Tequila from. Only they never mature enough to produce a stalk.
I just sent a “sampler” package to a fellow countryman and sways own fin guru Ben Chipper (fins). Can’t wait to see what he does with it!
I love to utilize this wood whenever I can. Sometimes a solid board. Sometimes stringers. Straight, curved, or rails.
