I was sanding the bottom of my board in preparation for the the hot coat and I accidently hit it with a tool (not really sure how I did it). Anyway - I left about a quarter size ding in the bottom of the board. Do any of you have any tips on how to fix this? Not sure if I could just fill it in with some extra resin when I hot coat it.
Photo?
Heat gun
Yeah, Tom, I was tempted to say that, too. But: although it’s probably PU/PE it’s not expressly indicated. Heat-gun and EPS wouldn’t go together well. Also, is it just a pressure ding or is the fiberglass punctured? That’s why I was asking for a photo.
If the skin is not punctured, but the glass is shattered, if you hotcoat over it it will leave a white spot there forever. Structurally, it won’t matter much, but if you don’t like how it looks, cut it out, peel it off, and patch it.
Flame thrower ?
Thanks for the tips so far. I should have posted more info and a photo but I was in a sort of panic mode at the time. Here are some pics I took with my phone - not the greatest but you get the idea. The blank is EPS and it is laminated with bamboo fabric and epoxy. It is just a pressure ding and the fabric is NOT punctured. Here are the pics:

I'd rough it up a bit, fill with epoxy and sand flush before glossing. I'll bet you can make an invisible repair without too much effort.
Okay – I will fill it will epoxy and sand it down before the hot coat. Thanks for the tips and I will let you all know how it turns out.
