air brushing

i have jsut finished shaping my second board( a bonzer) and i wanted to know when to airbrush as in after the lamination and before the hot coat or when and what kind of paint to use i wanteds to make the rails royal blue with a black pinline

air brushing is normally done right on the foam, acrylic paint works great. no gloss finish or anything…just flat paint.

sprays can be done on the sanded hotcoat of boards that will get a gloss coat, but this is kinda a harder thing to do.

spray it on the blank and then run a marker down the tape line

If you spray on the foam, the paint will be protected from future sanding operations. Fades come out good on the foam. I prefer pinlines on the hotcoat, because they are clean with sharp edges. Be careful when you sand and polish the gloss coat so you don’t sand into the pinline. Doug
