What is the best way to get rid of air bubbles/dry spots along the deck where my lap rolls over the rail i know it cosmetic but it drives me craszy i was thinking of sanding through lightly and fill with resin and reglass good or bad, i want the air bubbles to disapear-help!
Poke holes in the bubbles with a dremel and fill dem up with resin, sand smooth, never see dem again.
I have a good amount of them running along both rails i was, thinking about sanding through both sides and reglassing the deck with a 4 oz cloth, then re-hotcoat good idea or bad? I have glassed the board with double 6oz cloth and 6 oz bottom.
Resinhead’s got it right,
Just hit the bigger ones ,the smaller ones will seemingly vanish…If you don’t have a dremel use a sharp cutter or drill…I prefer the pocket fold-up type box cutter/knive but any sharp blade will do.
…Dry spots can sometimes be had by squeeging in a thinned out batch of lam.
If you decide to sand and re-lam watch the holes, they’ll create lumpyness in your finish…not to mention making the board heavier.

I agree with you, Herb. I just saved a friend’s first lam using HEAVILY thinned lam resin. All dry spots disappeared. Maybe not great strength-wise, but miraculous cosmetically speaking. Work the resin into the dry spots with a stiff brush.
i agree with resinhead. make a hole and fill with resin. if you do use a dremel just be carfull those things can be quite scarry sometimes
if all else fails an you donwanna look at em …
pigment the rails
it will neutralize a multitude of sins…
…ambrose…
I just had the same issue with glassing my first board. I used a razor blade and cut out the dry spots and then sanded those areas. I then cut out fabric and filled the spots with resin. I also did a gloss coat and the board came out good.
