Anyone know where I can find some good deals for an air compressor and air hose. If anyone can point out any specific models, I would appreciate it. I’ve never used any compressors before so I want to be sure I’m buying the right one. Thanks… --NM
NM- Here is what is on my wish list for a new compressor, I’d welcome any comments from those of you that are happy with your air setup. I’m thinking at least a 5 Hp. and probably a 6 Hp. motor on my upgrade. I use my paint spray gun(s) a lot and hope to add a some air tools to my toolbox as I go along, a 25-30 gallon tank seems like a necessity. You have to have a standing air resevoir that is large enough to provide a constant air pressure for your tools. Particularly with paint sprayers where a steady pressure air source is ideal. The motor has to be large enough to keep up with the tank volume with in turn has to be large enough to provide steady air pressure under constant use, a little extra volume will keep the motor from running all the time. The vertical tanks fit my shop better and cost about $350.00 at most supply warehouses or lumberyard/home improvement stores. Hoses are cheap and come in different grades depending on the hose material, most are 50’ lengths for $15-$20.00. Tom I know you are in it for the long run so bight the bullet and get a bigger one with a two stage compressor head and a belt drive.You will be able to use air tools,get a moisture filter regardless.Cost more like 750 bucks but worth it.P.S. dont get one of those oiless jobs…get one that you have to put oil in the crank case.If you want to go the cheap route they are usally a hundred bucks or so at a pawn shop.

Will a 6Hp.with a 30 gallon tank get it?>>> TS Definite 220.Check out an outfit called Grizzly Tools I guess they have a website…you will see what I am talkig about.Alot of these hose power ratings are bogus…they mean developed H.P. at no load.Grizzly makes good stuff and has a great selection of hoses and filters.Cambell and Housfield aint a bad brand name…Home Depo and Lowes has em.Have any luck on the Skil Planer sprockets? Air compressor is better than air hose because it will reduced the compress air to the chamber.
