Anyone ever have this problem? I try to print my board file as a PDF to send to my brother, but when I try to view the PDF it says the file cannot be opened because it’s “empty”
Any ideas?

I’ve had that problem before. PDF file gets saved, but file size is “0” when you see it in your file directory. I’m no programmer, but I think what happens is that the brd file is busy (maybe stuck) in another process, and is not available for conversion. The PDF converter takes your information for filename (and logo), but when it goes to the brd file for data, its not available. So it just creates a container with nothing in it. I always “Save” or “Save and Re-load” the brd file before running the “Print to PDF” process, just to make sure the brd file has completed any other processing. You may have to close and re-open the brd file, and/or quit and restart AKU, as well. If all else fails, uninstall and re-install AKU. I’m a frequent user of AKU and I have to re-install it every 3 months or so when it starts misbehaving, like when the “Bay” 3-d view becomes distorted.
Saving the file on another name does help sometimes… try saving it like this: BOARD or BOARD.PDF or whatever name… had the same thing and it took about six or seven saves with different names/numbers to get it not “empty”
Its a little different now - looks like it is saving a file with 4kb of data, but when I go to open it, the data is corrupt. Tried uninstalling and re-installing and still same problem… have also tried multiple names, with and without logo, save and reload, quit and restart, and even restart computer and still not working.
Can’t find anything in the mac troubleshooting section of the Aku site either, so looks like I’ll just have to contact them. I’ll keep you guys posted
If u can’t make a pdf with aku shaper… install board cad and also a programe named PrimoPDF.
Then it’s so easy, hit Alt+2 for outline or Alt+3 for a profile of the board, then instead of chosing ur printer chose Primo. Save it and done.

Tried boardcad… unfortunately it doesn’t seem to play nicely with my mac and never actually launches
So it appears this is a known issue and they’re working on it.
Now that I think about it, it seems that my AKU problems coincide with Java updates on my PC…hmmmm
