so i’ve started enjoying glassing boards more than shaping 'em. anyone know where to get a few boards cut from a machine in north san diego county? and the average price to have a board cut? i’ve tried contacting a few places on the akushaper website map already but no responses.
A guy I work with might know someone with a machine, he’s mentioned it once or twice. I’ll ask him tomorrow.
Funny thing, I’m looking for just the opposite, hah…someone who can glass the boards I shape…I hated glassing my fish!
awesome, i’d appreciate it!
Not exactly North County, but you could try APS San Diego off Miramar Rd.
I’m not a machine guy so no idea on the going rate. Several years ago I was told cuts were about $30 for a shortboard. This of course does not including any setup tweaks required to the files to get something decent. I’m actually pretty curious what it is now. Sorry vargen_ for saying this, but for all the handshapers out there I hope it costs more than that.
So…I forgot to ask my buddy at work. I’ll try to remember tomorrow!
EDIT: I dunno why I didn’t think about texting my buddy till just now, but he said the company is called RoughHouse, in Oceanside. Not much of a website as of right now, but his facebook page has some info: https://www.facebook.com/Roughhouse-548115641877867/info/?tab=page_info
I think my buddy said it’s $25-30 bucks for a board to be cut. Not sure what files you’d have to submit…he might be able to generate code for you just from an STL file, or he might require you submit the g-code. Worth checking out though!
Paragon CNC. At the Airport in Oceanside.
canman, rikter and mcding, thankyou for the info! i’ll check those out
Chris Borst. He’s a great shaper and shaped many of the plugs for Millennium. Yes he has a Machine. Didn’t know he did cuts for others. Near the Airport in O’side also.
There’s 5 machines on that block alone.
APS San Diego is gone. It’s been gone a while.
Rough house cuts CI almost full time.
