AkuShaper Support

Hey Shapers; My name is Nick Hodgkinson and I am the software support representative for AkuShaper surfboard shaping software. Swaylocks user since 2015! Aloha!

If you are not familiar with AkuShaper, we are a CAD/CAM software specifically built for designing surfboards! The software allows users to create and modify surfboard designs quickly and easily. You can import existing surfboard shapes, or create your own from scratch. We have also been building CAM software to generate cutting files for surfboard specific CNC machines for over 15 years.

I am sure many of us have crossed paths in one way or another over the years! Our team is currently based in Hawaii, Australia, California, Florida, and Europe. And yes, every single one of our managers and software developers surfs! Surfing is not a requirement to work at AkuShaper but since the beginning, surfing has been the passion behind this company and we are very fortunate to have a team of core surfers and shapers working with us. We are always looking for new talent to bring to the team so if you have a passion for CAD/CAM and surfing, feel free to reach out to us anytime.

The Aku software was originally founded by father and son duo, Ralph and Jimmy Freese in Hawaii. They worked closely with Mike Rickard, Miki Langenbach, Nev Hyman over in Australia, along with many others to develop the software. We have been very fortunate to work with such talented individuals who are also passionate about the surf industry. We keep close ties with these individuals and are very proud to have been involved in everyones individual legacy. As the surfboard CAD/CAM world continues to grow and new players emerge, our philopshy has always been cooperation and collaboration. We are looking forward to what the next chapter of surfboard manufacturing holds. My goal with the Swaylocks forum is to shed some light on what goes on at AkuShaper, answer questions, start new discussions about CAD/CAM and talk a little bit about the history of AkuShaper.

If anyone has questions or comments related to AkuShaper, CAD/CAM, digital surfboard design, CNC machines or any other related topics. Please feel free to tag #akushaper in any of your posts and I will do my best to get back to any and all responses as fast as I can. I am very eager to have some discussions around these topics.

And if anyone is interested in using AkuShaper, we have a special promo code available for the Swaylocks community; 25% off all of our CAD design plans. This special code “Swaylocks” can be redeemed here: https://www.akushaper.com/users/new

So yeah! Nice to meet everyone, looking forward to speaking with you all more! If you ever need anything, or just want to talk about surfboard design, myself and our team can be reached at support@akushaper.com or feel free to give us a call anytime at +1 (760) 473-1407
