she's a hottie for sure
Watching that clip makes me wonder if anyone ever bothers filming her surfing her backhand?
One left and it’s a wipeout.
Illustrates the monotony of surfing honed for contests.
ooo this made my morning
just a comment … front footed in trim back foot off the fins … maybe she’ll make that video …
She is better than watching many in the crew. xo
You creepy old bastards LOL!!

Wow. Because I said "easy on the eyes" and posted a video. That's "creepy"??? She's a nice looking girl, and a good surfer. No creepiness about that, in my opinion.
I may be creepy,,,, but Im not an old bastard
Interesting article:
‘Beauty over accomplishments, bodies over brains,
tits over turns. You’ve heard this story before. This isn’t promoting
women’s surfing, it’s Barbie-ifying it. The message is that it doesn’t
matter how hard a girl charges, just as long as she smiles a lot, looks
good in a bikini, doesn’t curse too much, and shows up in a Maxim
profile humping her board it’s all good.’

Alana is good friends with Bethany Hamilton, whom I admire very much. I read Bethany's book, and saw the movie. I think they're both nice girls, pretty, and good surfers. I don't think they have posed in Maxim, or humped their boards, etc.
I don't get into the hype much, and don't follow most of the rest either, male or female. The few professional girl surfers I am aware of are from videos posted on youtube - when you watch one, they show you other related videos, a few of which I've watched and enjoyed.
Laird Hamilton, Buzzy Kerbox, and other male surfers have done professional modeling, cashing in on their looks. Is anyone upset about the Ken Doll-ifying of surfing?
I do think there's a lot of unfairness and injustice in pro surfing, in the advertising media, and in the world in general. Women surfers is probably a pretty small piece of that pie, but I don't approve of any of it, and if my post is offensive for that reason, I apologize.
As a man I enjoy looking at women’s bodies. As a father of young women I would say to Alana," Wear something more modest, girl. Everyone’s watching your crotch and not your surfing!" Mike
Reminds me of womens beach volley ball… Does the smaller bottom covering help with athletic endevor???
Strange you don’t see guys in “speedos” that often. We do get guys in baggy surf shorts with boxers on underneath???
I should quit, but I’m not ahead…
All good, sorry, just speaking my mind at the time…You got a good sense of humor Ken, legend haha
It’s definitely nice that more girls are surfing these days, breaks up the aggressive man vibe that goes on in line ups and reminds us that its really about having fun and being stoked :) !!

I was out at Malibu the other day. A girl, not bad looking, was on a wave coming in as I paddled out. She went in a straight line toward me. I paddled over toward the shoulder. She kept coming straight at me, kinda shaky looking, like not really in control. The wave sectioned just before she got to me, and the section collapsed on her. So she jumped off the back and shot her board straight at me. I prepared to roll, but her leash stopped it. A minute later she gathers her board, and looks at me with a crap-eating grin, and paddles back out. I headed up to the top of the point. They can be kooks too. Just saying.
There didn't used to be so many female surfers, back in the day. I can think of Rell Sunn, and Jericho Poppler. Thats all that comes to mind. I do think its a good thing that girls are getting into surfing more, but not all LOL.
