My 5 cents…

…and I’m not Alex Knost. He’s a gifted surfer who would shame me.

I bought one 2 mos. ago, and I thought it would ride like other traditional longboards that I have. I was really interested in the design of this board, because it looked different.

This is a unique board. It had tail kick, a wide “hip” by the tail, and a narrow nose dimension. It tends to bog when you get stuck behind sections. Hang 5’s are easy, but 10’s and trick noseriding were really difficult for me. It has too small of a nose platform. I let some groms borrow it up at C-street, Ventura, and they agreed too. One nice thing is that you can sideslip board and steer it from middle third to find a good trim line.

I had put out a previous thread about this board earlier, asking for peoples input on this board, and those that responded said it was an advanced board made for an “in the pocket” style. I couldn’t agree more. There are other traditional longboards that might have better performance qualities than the Knost Model, and are more user friendly.

No doubt about it though: the board is beautiful.

keep in mind, though, that it’s not just an advanced board, but it’s an advanced board designed specifically for a 135-lb. very advanced surfer. just a thought.

this wont help at all, but i remember almost running alex over when i was learning to surf at blackies. i remember him being really cool about it and telling me “you gotta know when to put on the brakes sometimes.”

i also remember working at 28th street and watching the guy ownt he place on summer evenings. so talented. i wouldnt be surprised if a baord shaped for him would work as well for you as a board shaped for slater would be.

think yater spoon-that’s basically what that board is derived from…
