Hey Noodle,>>> Thanx allot for getting back to me. The board shape outline does have a > little bit of a through back look to it but the bottom runs flat, to vee, > to flat, to single concave, to vee with double concave. The contours on > the bottom are very subtle nothing very deep at all. I think this is a > fairly modern concept for the bottom though I could be wrong. You old time > shapers would know of course. I remember someone saying the whole board > should be a sweet spot so that’s what I shot for. Kalu said, “You > gotta be like water when you have the shaping tools in you hands. He’s > right and he is that way.>>> I’ll let you know how the width and rocker plug into the real thing and > give you and word a run down on the rails when I get a chance to myself I > don’t know how to do the number thing with them. Oh and by the way when > you do give a little rundown on how you plug in your numbers in on the > rails. This first set is pretty easy to figure out. But I’m a little > confused and how the ones for the rails will apply.>>> Oh yea that’s right I gonna pay bills before I go to the beach breaks.>>> Good surfin’ Rich Rich, I’m an oldtime surfer, but new to board building. I forgot to say the shape above has the wide point offset 2” forward. Here’s a mid-board rail foam profile for your board. I thickened the rails to make up for foam taken out of the nose outline and channels. The rail line is .75" off the bottom and has a 1" tuck. Draw a horizontal line for the cross section. Mark zero at the stringer. The line’s height is at the rail line. Measure widths along the line. Measure up from the line for deck, and down for bottom. Hope you have enough scratch left from paying bills for materials. Happy shaping! Hi Noodle, Thanx buddy! I’ll see how these numbers plug in. Oh, I should mention one thing, which is that we put the wide point of the shape right in the middle at 46.5". It’s just how the arcs hung together best and how things looked the smoothest and what the templates wanted. The rails as I remember them are a little down in the forward rocker and as the vee begins in the forward section they get real eggy. In the central portion of the board they become more down and of course sharpen toward the tail. I’ll share these two sets of numbers with Kalu and Steve and see what they have to say. I rather think Steve will have alot more interest than his son but I clue you in on what happens. A little aside. I’ve got a deal cookin’ (details of which I have to keep on the QT) to make some tow-in board fins for some of the big wave riders over in the islands. I’m stoked but really don’t have any great expectations as I all may be a pipe dream, I have lots of those, and the real experience occassionally. One thing’s for sure, the process should be most educational. Good surfin’ Rich

Both nose and tail rails got curvier, but you’ll sacrifice a little more foam and floatation. Good luck. Hey Noodle, It makes perfect sense that with the nose narrower than the tail that by moving the mid point up that it would make the board a little fuller. Thanx buddy. Looks like were in for a little more swell here in the next day or so. Good Surfin’ Rich
