I was finishing up number two (mod fish) yesterday, drilling the holes for the FCS fins when I managed to get some fiberglass caught on the inside of my upper eyelid. I think it was still gummy, because about 10 flushes with water and half a bottle of Visene (sp?) couldn’t get it out. Luckily my stubborness came second to my girlfriends, and I found myself in the ER with a suctioncup (Morgan lens) spewing saline salution on my eye. They had these wonderful drops that took all the pain away, but they wouldn’t let me take them home. They know what they’re doing, because I woke up at three and my eye still hurt bad, woke up at seven and I could open it again - with crusties all over the perimeter. I’m sure that wouldn’t have happened if my eye was numbed with drops. Never underestimate the healing power of the human body. Lesson learned Moral: Always wear protection. Detrimented but not dissuaded.

I know how you feel i was a sander for many years… Just a little story back in 75 or so i cut and glued up blanks for South Shore foam blanks in costa mesa. I was mixing up some flex resin and grabed the catalyst bottle when i fliped it up onto the shelf a drop of Catalyst went right into my eye. lucky i had clean acetone in a bucket to flush my eye with till i could find my way thru the factory to the sink at the other end of the building. Yes it hurt like shit… I was told by someone once that within 5 seconds i would have been blind in that eye had i not flushed it with acetone. I was told that was crazy to use acetone but it saved my vision. My vision was screwed up for months in my one eye… From that point on i always thought twice when dealing with chemicals. Still to this day i think about that day everytime i add cat to my resin… Safety First… Rob
