yup christmas was my first with pu/pe so i thought for my second eps/epoxy would be nice to try. that way i can hopefully get a feel for each method and chose my prefferance. i’m sure i’m in good company when i say that reading sways has just made me want to build a fish! i’m weak, i succumed…
so then, with this block:
i chopped and glued it up a bit:
then after playing with aps3000 for a bit came up with an outline a bit like this:
there are some flat spots in my outline i know, its not totally even but nothing a little sanding wont fix.
its a 6’6 fish with a pretty flat rocker, or more to the point, it will be! butt crack still to be cut, going to leave that until the end though. think i’m going to glass it with 2*4 on the bottom and the same on the top but with a full length 6oz deck patch. more so i can try a bit of a swirl more than anything else!
quad is my thinking on this, however i love both of the set ups in the previous threads… leaning more toward the twinzer now though.
any thoughts?
work may well be slow at the moment as i have my dissertation hand in and finals looming… we all need a release though! hopefully will keep this updated as it goes… cheers for stopping by!
told you this was going to be a slow process! i go and play in the garage when uni work gets the better of me
sooo
marking out rail bands, crutches! give me more crutches!:
with this (cant remember who’s idea this was but cheers!)

since then i have added a fish tail though i’m not too happy with it, might go for the dist bin lid (sorry, trash can!) approach like swied on his balsa fish here:
was thinking a little more about fins when the skateboard fin thread came up, i have a few of those from my well spent miss spent youth! in fact i wish i still had friends who wanted to skate, maybe a longboard as my next project?
anyways, i found these:
now which colour? the blue one has a very attractive blue ply a bit down, could look sweeeeet when foiled! though i may be jumping the proverbial gun rather, would a speed dialler work on said board?
blue ply:
when not working or in the garage i can be found here…
honestly it chokes me up that i may well only have the summer here then have to relocate elsewhere in the uk. only just starting to hit me now with the small end of 2 months left at uni. after growing up and half taking all this for granted… sigh.
but then, what better way to leave than go out having surfed the summer on a new board?
