12 days ago I had my right ear drilled( it was completely grown over/blocked).Apart from some early pain everything went allright. Now I’ve had all the dressings pulled out except I’m still deaf as.The surgeon said that he had left a body absorbing dressing in deep(for a month) to protect the new tissue thin skin near the eardrum, is this normal procedure? has anyone had this op. recently?
The bad news is he said do’nt get it wet, but the good news is he did’nt say do’nt go surfing.
Howzit bargearse, Don't take any risks, I think the normal healing process takes about 6 weeks and that means no surfing. It's not worth the chance of going deaf, and the surf will still be there when you are healed up. I just had a cataract operation and they said no going in the water or lifting any thing over 15 lbs. I followed the instructions and am happy to say I know have 20/20 vision and am totally healed.Aloha,Kokua
You should be fine - Don’t hurry. Had 'em both done, one driil though, one peel the ear and drill from “behind.” In the end a few extra weeks out of the water won’t seem like much when both your ears work.
had it done two years ago… helped a ton, no more ear infections… yah the guy left something in my ear for a while also… don’t mess with the healing… you don’t want an infection that close to your brain… six weeks flys by, it will be over before you know it…
