Another reason why google is great

Say you’re about to mix hotcoat/lam/etc. resin and need to do some math

Go to google.com

Type this in:

1.5% of 10 oz in cc

Hit search and get this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=1.5%25+of+10+oz+in+cc&btnG=Search

No conversion factors needed-great stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

Also great:

www.megaconverter.com

Go Metric. Get rid of all the confusing double dutch. Gallons , quarts , pints , oz’s , cc’s etc.

1 litre = 1000ml, working out mix ratios with metric is a no brainer, no need for google just a calculator if you want to check yourself, it’s simple maths.

300ml resin x 1.5% = 4.5ml hardener ,I find that easier than 1.5% of 10 oz in cc.

Give it a go ,once you have it in your head ratios come so easy. If you won’t give metric a go then google is your answer.

as an Italian living in the US, I realize that going metric is just never gonna happen.

their system doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, but somehow they’re convinced ours (when I say “ours” I’m referring to the rest of the world) is worse.

Not me. I’m American who’s married to a German. We lived in Deutchland for 3 years, and I worked in a woodworking shop. Meters, centimeters, and millimeters is MUCH easier to use. Just like counting money…all based on 100.

Americans just don’t want to change because they’re familiar with inches. Inches is ok until you start having to add, subtract, or multiply fractions of inches. Then it’s easiest to convert fractions to…decimals! 16 ft. tape measures used to have a conversion table printed on the back of the tape: fractions to decimals. Go figure…literally.

I guess we’re just stubborn… Now don’t get started on that!

You know there’s two things I will always think and refer to in imperial.

Wave sizes and board lengths, even after using metric most of my life and on a daily basis as a carpenter I still can’t envisage waves and boards any other way.

In every other way metric is superior for measurements of all kinds.

familiarity is king

when the 20 is adjacent to the 1.5 oz

on the measuring cup

and the durn thing dont go up to 3 0z

but it does go up to 60

I dont care if its ccs or mms

or even rrs

Im jumping on that

two to one relationship

like a scots-irish on an indentured

service contract to the new world

to live like an abused dog

for a chance to leave the feudalists behind.

I never knew it was even called imperial

it was just an inch

at least we aint using cubits

if we dint have measurink tapes

with little black marks and numbers

ropes with knots and strings with knots would work

and an elbow and a finger tip is the only way to measure

a rope when out in a boat…

whats a cubit?

noah said that

bill cosby told me

,ambrose…

hows bout how long is that board ?

six x 1.375 x .87 x .80 x .20 cubits

perfect for the outer reefs of

isle de Arrarat

emperical unt me trick are just passing fashion

to be replaced ultimately

by the yet unknown superior

galactic unit, the beallit.
