Any tips doing resin pins with KK?

Hey Guys

Want to do some resin pinlines with KK.

I suppose the question is when to pull the tape.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I did black kk pins with my last board. I started to pull the tape a bit early and made a mess. I waited for the rest of it to kick and it pulled of pretty clean without any issues. Try a test panel if you have any doubts.

First time doing resin pins, I pulled the tape as soon as it started to thicken, didn't have any problems.

Get some X-55, so the pinline goes off quicker.

I found that you have to let it get past that snot stage… when it’s in that thick but still liquidy/stringy state. If you pull it when it’s still snot, you can get little hair-like strings pulling off the bead of resin. Then you have to go back and clean it up with a razor blade. Let it get just past that, then pull. Also, I pull the tape straight up or even doubled back a bit… never off at an angle. Don’t gob on too much at once either.

And yes, you can put X-55 in the mix, but when it starts to go off in the cup, look out.

Every time I’ve used x55 in kwik kick the resin turns milky.

Hey guys

Think I'll do some tests.

Cheers

Black pigment might not go milky with accelerator.

Post the test results!

Why add x55? The Kwik Kick already has a pretty short pot life.
