No big deal. Just watch for getting any strings or globs of resin from your first side into the channel, as they’ll be a
bitch to get out cleanly. When you do the deck, use your finger or make a tool to get the cloth down tight in the channel.
Don’t pull too hard when you tuck the lap or the cloth will come up in the channel.
Mike
over cut your lap, by the amount needed for the channels. I found that pulling and tucking your rails first and then just pushing down into the channel was the best way when I glass them. Save it for last and just push down into it with a squeege.
Great. thx guys.
Any pix of this creation?

OK, what do you do when it comes time to hotcoat them?
Won’t resin pool in the deck channels?
Is there just a bunch of sanding that needs to be done after the resin kicks?

Good question, and you’re correct, resin will try to pool in the channels. Brush it out as late
as you dare, and sand whatever’s left. Most boards you’ll see that have deck channels will
have a little excess resin in them. A little from the HC is unavoidable, what you don’t want is
float under the glass.

Tip I got for doing all types of channels. Run a little lam resin in the channel first and kick it (uv for me). It stays a little tacky and will hold the glass down while doing the lamination.

Howzit Dave, That’s the way I do it with bottom channels also.Aloha,Kokua
Thank you Mike.
I will be doing this soon. Will let you know how it turned out.
