I know that generally in life you get what you pay for but, it does seem worth a punt unless anyone has any awful experience of them that they’d like to share.
They have a MSDS if you click products on home page. Pale yellow. Not a super saving over RR epoxy (unless the seabase £22 litre is out of date price).
Thanks Paul, just had a quick look, that looks promising but there’s no info about pricing on their web site, have you a rough idea what they charge per 5kilo combination resin/hardener? Appreciate it.
Thanks Mark, I just saw the “amber” description on the MSDS sheet, not sure it’ll matter too much as the current project is wood and may even improve the look of the white pine. I make it out to be a fair old bit cheaper than seabase, just under 50 quid for 3.75kilo pack. Just not sure of the quality.
Thanks Greg, I’ll bow to your immense wisdom and just order the RR from Seabase. The purpose of using epoxy for me was primarily about getting away from the evil chemical hazard thing, so that’s that then.
jase, make sure when you order that they send you resin research, last time i did they ended up sending surf source and saying they had run out of RR. homeblown also do an epoxy, ive just used it without problems on my latest 2. they havent been sanded yet but ill keep you posted.

hi , i have used this resin , its quite low viscosity , very pale amber . only the hardener is amber , really good at weting out the cloth, i only use it under the wood in compsand type boards but it seems perfectly ok,
i have also used conexionns resin which are REA , french resins , these are really good resins, they are uv stable which is a good plus point , the resin is slightly purpley because of the uv additives but comes out quite clear , you can see the purple over white fin boxes etc
i have used r and r as well , you can sand r and r a bit quicker, like next day which is good, r and r is water clear , all are perfectly ok for board building , especially wood boards, pete
Just a little too soon with that comment i see from your latest thread. Man, I’d be gutted, that looks like a killer board dude, hope it all works out.
hi jase, just a quick one because i am out for a few days , my experience with epoxy is never handle the set resin without rubber /latex gloves , any oils from finger prints or any contamination and you wil get fish eyes, the last coat is the worse , i sand and wash with water , dry board and dry sand, clean off the dust with a rag and recoat ,
the additive f goes milky over wood so do a test piece first if you are going to use it , mix what you need but don/t leave any resin in a deep container as it soon heats up, all the best , pete
Thanks again Pete, there seems to be so much stuff to remember with epoxy, everything has to be that bit more precise. After the eps boards and this wood board I think I’ll probably be back to stinking of poly. I only do maybe 1 board a year so the learning curve is way slow to get good with new stuff, but we’ll see how these couple go.
