I have a practically brand new k-mat i hardly ever use, so the idea is if youre anxious to surf one I will send it to you to enjoy, then when you get your own, or think youve had a fair go at it, you can post here and send it to someone else who would enjoy surfing it while they wait, or just to try it or whatever and see what you could learn from it.
I also have a starfin i never use so same kinda deal…
(no catch, no money, i dont care if i ever see it again, just pay your own postage when u send it on to the next interested person)
feel free to pm me if interested or if you think the idea is sh!t or whatever, i could send it out this week
run’s K-Mat is the only one of its kind I’ve ever made. The bottom has a smooth polyurethane coating. Interested persons should compare their height and weight with run’s.
K-Mats are a specialized (narrow range) mat design, originally developed for long, weak, small waves. For use at lowest “magic towel” inflations resulting in a very wide planing area. Best for longer arcs, fast trimming and gliding. K-Mats have slower (more stable) response, as air flow between chambers is restricted. George Greenough’s preferred vehicle in marginal conditions.
That said, the most experienced can ride just about anything, any way they want:
"Happy New Years, muchachos –
El Cap on Sunday was absolutely firing. Offshore wind and super minus tide, upcoming. I was riding the Trimaran (K-Mat) for a change, and that thing is a tube-riding machine! I hadn’t had it in waves that good before and it was absolutely terrorizing. Coulda sold some mats that afternoon! What a birthday present… very memorable! Thanks, Dale!"
(BTW… a friend in Fiji would like to sell his K-Mat, only got it wet 4 times. For more info shoot me a PM, or email )
And to those who are still waiting for their mats… I humbly request your continued patience. My recovery has not been all smooth sailing. Be assured I am doing the very best I can under the circumstances.
Dale -----------Nice El Cap pic. Isn’t it a great place? Of course it almost never breaks. Yeah sure. Glad to here you caught it. The backside of the point can do a pretty good imitation of Stanleys(now defunct) in the summer. The next time you go south take a few mats with you it’ll pay for the trip. Looks like I’ll be in Newport mid-March. See Ya!
Yeah, what a dream wave! Sorry for the misunderstanding… the New Years greeting comments were from a friend in Santa Barbara who likes to remain “below the radar”. I’ve never caught El Cap… in fact, I’ve never been south of Santa Cruz, and that was many years ago.
hi all, just a heads up, seems like the mat will be goin out to someone who has a time window for a trip and has been waitin, so i guess that seems fair, but of course the ole first come first serve list style seems to make sense, so right now the mat seems taken till somewhere around march 10…
but after that the matlist seems to be:
keith melville
matt (I’m in the s. bay btw)
dudley
mottola
hicksy
the starfin will be with pcinsc for a while then youre up janklow
if anyone wants to negotiate with whoever as to deservingness, something that makes more sense, or giv there spot of course they are welcome to, hopefully it wont get too complicated haha
oh yeah i dont have anything against the k-mat at all i still enjoy mat surfing i just have more things in general than i need kind of a thing and i dont share enough
if i messed up somewhere feel free to tell me, i dont take offense to nothin -run
Placed my order with Dale a couple weeks ago…SOOOOO stoked, I can’t. Like everyone said…I just need to pay him, and then forget about it…and one day it will be sitting on my doorstep. Can’t wait to ride it down at the cliffs!!! No rush Dale, get better first!
Hello Run- Thanks for your very generous gesture. If Mottola brings it over I just want to try it for a few rides then send it on its way so I won’t slow down its transit. Oh,boy! It’s gonna be fun.
