Anybody use Fast Tack instead of TackE or StickE ?

Ran out of tacky.

Anybody tried this stuff:

I found it on the Foamez website…

i use cheap spray glues,feathering disk adhesives,rice glue,etc. when i have them.

but i use spray 90 when spinning pads at/or faster than 5000 rpms.

low rpms i use whatever will work...........mostly pre-glued paper disks.

Thanks for your concern Hang20…

Well, I tried super 77 last night. REALLY light dusting of the spray from 1-2 feet away onto the paper. Less than a second of total spray time.

It worked great. I was even able to take it off cold.

It was about 60*F and I had let the pad sit for about a half hour before I pulled it off. No problem.

I think the trick is to not use too much?

I’m going to keep using it because I’ve got 3 cans of the stuff.

anyone found anything like this stuff in uk or europe?

I took a short vid using Air Tac 2, goes on in seconds, stays down and then peels off completely clean no need to heat it

Hang if you get the pad warm, via sanding or whatnot it peels right off.  1 sheet, easily reuseable. We have done it for years. 77 is not our primary adhesive but it gets used often when we run out of tackee as a back up.  A light mist goes a LONG way, it doesnt take much. if you goop it on i could see having troubles getting it off.

NOOOOO chrisp don’t use the super 77.

I used to use it but not after buying the fasttack.  Super77 is way to good of an adhesive. You’ll spend the 20 minutes trying to rip the old paper off to put on a new sheet or different grit.  you’ll tear the paper to pieces trying to get it off too so no way to reuse a good sheet that just needs to be swapped out with a different grit or whatever. The fast tack holds really well too but the paper comes off in one quick pull rather than having to tear up fingers picking away at paper.

thanks for the heads up wrcsixeight I’ll go talk to the NAPA down the street…

But, after reading some of these threads: https://www.google.com/search?q=super+77+sanding+pad+site%3Aswaylocks.com&sugexp=chrome,mod=19&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

I’m going to give super 77 a shot. I’ve got a few cans of it already.

I’ve also been using the 3M Feathering Disk Adhesive, and love it.  Can peel off  without heating/ ripping and reattach without applying more

I just bought some at Ace hardware in California a few months back.  Will be bummed if I have to switch to something else.

Had Napa order me some a few years back when I couldn’t find it anywhere else.

Hahaha, does it make a difference that I’ve been using this stuff:

And love it but, I can’t get it any more. Something about it being detrimental to pinipeds in California???

I can’t say enough about “Air Tac” sold at my local FGH store. Been using it on sanding pads with the big Milwaukee for about 4 years. Holds great with a couple second spray mist and peels off easy & clean when done. A can lasts a long time and never any more gummed up pads

Resinead is right as usual. I have also used 3m spraymount with good results. Its a light tack spray that artists use. I spray a light shot on the paper then slap it on the pad and smear it around. Then I take the paper and slap it on and off till you feel the tack. If you mess up and peel the paper off and it tears (leaving paper glued on) use the hair dryer trick.

Lastly…Naptha will clean glue of of pads… How far can you sling a sheet of 80 grit with your sander? I slung one 28.5 yards back in the 70’s. Looked like friggin UFO.

I use only quality 3M supplies.  May I have some soup please?

Cleanlines.  Maybe your event will be in the next Olympics?

Resinhead is totally right warm and not a lot is the key. We have used 77 in jams for years and never had issues. I will say the screenprinters tack is the way to go because its pressure sensative like the TackE. Its also pretty cheap. Like 5 bucks a can for maybe 20% more than what 77 has in it.

Hi Chris-

The Super 77 is way too sticky and will tear your paper.  It’s made for more permanent situations like you said.  We have tested the FastTac extensively and it has worked great.  If you have any issues with any of the adhesives (tapes) you can use a hair dryer to heat up and loosen the adhesive.  That’s your hot tip for the week!

Good luck-

Brad

I am speechless.... No soup for you!

As all the adhesive sprays. When you want to  take them off the pad, make sure you take them off the pad warm....make sure the Super whaterver is warm and loose.

Also you don't need to spray half a can to make it work, just a very light coat does the trick

its like 77, i would buy 77 if thats your choice. I also use screen printers tack. its like 5 bucks a can and works closer to a spray version of TackE

Thanks Acqua.

I’ve got some 77 in the shed.

Is there a trick to have it not be permenant?

I’d like to be able to get my paper back off the pad.

I’ll look into finding some screen printers tack too.

I’ve been using the super 77 for over a month now.

I don’t see myself going back to TackE or StickE or any of the other feathering disc adhesives.

The super 77 is EASY. And I haven’t had any problems pulling the paper off.

77 works great not sure why anyone else would have a problem with it.

I just bought a case because they came with the free half sized can.
