But why?
The greenest board is the one that lasts the longest. So sure, the burlap’s footprint might be is smaller than other fibers, but I don’t know. Water, land, fuel, labor to grow it? But if it lasts a short time, and needs to be replaced, or rides like crap so you never use it. Or it soaks up too much resin so you loose there.
But if you are doing it just for fun, then go do it. Let us know how it turns out.

Did it 5 years ago.
Did a Balsa rail (solid) and balsa veneer bottom on a WNC eps blank.
Burlap deck inlay. Soaked up enough resin to glass probably two decks.
Then it swelled up to twice is thickness.
Really strong though.
Airbushed the burlap to look like an old feed bag.
Used it for display at Sacred Craft Show at San Diego Convention Center.
Also did a Mini-Simmons deck inlay with Poly.
Same problems occured.
I payed $6.00 a yard for Vector net. I bought 10 yards… If I buy a roll the price goes down…way down.
Why Burlap? why not S cloth? or something strong ?
…I don’t even buy into vector being better…looks neat…want some? Sure looks neat…I have about 6 yards left…easy to work with. Hand lay up.

if from what barry has said it is a bit heavy , resin - hungry and maybe not an advantage …

[ as also with linen [‘flax’] , there have been a few people here try it over the years , and there are some threads on it somewhere in the multitude of pages …[I usually try google …something along the lines of “ using hemp in surfboards…site: swaylocks” could bring up some …er…" threads " , maybe ? [ pun intended !]
jim banks has used it [hemp] on a fair few of his indo guns, over the years.
As does a guy in margaret river.
