Appropriate Shortboard Tail Width

Hey all, I’m putting the finishing touches on my first board and wondering if my current tail width is excessive.  The dimensions are 5’11"x19.5"x2.5", 15" at 12" from tail, and about 8" at the tail (squash tail).  It seems like most shortboards thin out to about 6" or less at the tail but maybe I’m just overthinking this.  Just wanna hear some input from you veterans out there.

Cheers,

Zal

Hey Zalillama!

Those numbers seem just right to me. Just make sure is not very thick at the tail. That might make the rail-to -rail transition too bulky.

Try a deep V.

15" is good! 14"-15,15 1/2" is f’n good!

6" point?;/ hmmmm…yeah, it’s getting thinner there… but at the block, that’s the thinnest point where you dont want it paper thin. Measure thickness on a board you like and go with it!

Sounds about right for a small wave board
