Are there any surfboard shapers in...............?????

Are there any in… Scotland?      How about…  Ireland?     England?     God willing, I’d like to make a visit  to all three, in the next calendar year.     I have a niece living in Dublin presently , and family roots in Scotland, and the Village of Threlkeld, in England.       I’d like to see what’s being done ‘‘over there’’ in surfing.      Thanks.

I don’t want to reply for them but I know for sure that there are some in all those countries.

Now, once you are there, you’re just a short flight away from south western France, if you see what I mean…

Quite doable.       I have French roots, going back to the Huegonot migration to North America.       Family surname was Gervais then, later anglisized to Jervey.      Settled in Charleston, SC, in the 1600’s.

Hmm.  Had wondered about the origins of your name.   The “365 Surfboard “ book that came out a few years back(can’t remember the exact title), featured some of the Sways crew and their boards.  I believe their were a few names dropped in that book that were from “The Kingdom”.  There were one or two here on Sways that contributed over the years as well.  Have heard mention of the Cornwall Coast as being a Surf Center of sorts.  SeaBase is a supplier for blanks etc.  They might be a logical place to start a search.

Yeah, Newquay in Cornwall has long been Europe’s surfing center, before Biarritz and its area took over; Bilbo surfboards were made there back in the '60s. Bill, you could try and get in touch with some people there out of this vintage boards collectors club: http://vintagesurfboardcollectoruk.blogspot.com

I would be glad to show you around if you could make it to France. Just tell me.

This is the guy.  Look him up bill.  Maybe you’ll get “unborn”.
