Can anyone out there help me to recall the name of a painter featured in Surfer Mag, early eighties. A very accomplished super-realist. If you know who that would be, please reply to me at:
Thanks

I’d try calling the folks at Surfer’s Journal. They have an appreciation for art and I bet someone there has the answer.
actually… while we are speaking about art a year or two ago there was a painter featured in a surf mag in australia who painted waves but they were amazing - great colours and really bold. Looked like catching a tube and seeing the sunset through the wave… amazing… if anyone knows who that was I’d be keen to find out too…
Riff…
If it was a hot buttered board it would have been Martin Worthington. if not perhaps swaylocker Josh Dowling (speedneddle) or Veg who i think still does underwater murals?
Hey Allan:
Glad to hear that you are still lurking out there!!!
I hope you got your tow board straps worked out.
Please let us know what you found out for your locations.
Also if you don’t mind, what kind of straps are you
recommending?
Anyway, I don’t know if you have any of the mags
hidden there in the foam dust, but some of the guys
that post here might have an issue or two if you could narrow
it down. You don’t mean somebody like Chris Lassen do
you? What kind of art work do you remember?
I don’t have a complete collection or anything, but
could look thru my issues if I knew more of what I was
looking for. Hope you catch a few this weekend!

Hey Alan… has to be Gary Prettyman. I bet Greg Mungal wishes he was in the same shape as the painting Gary did of him
I have an old business card of Gregs with
that pic. I hope this is the artist that Allen is
looking for as his work is world class!!
Alan said it wasn’t Prettyman so I reckon it’s Gene Studebaker one of the wackier guys I’ve ever met.
