ummm…

what was it again ?

$ 50, I think ?

it’s a bit small thin and light for me , otherwise …maybe …

ben

[serious answer …I don’t know …it’s been there for AGES ! I think it might be an unclaimed repair job , from memory]

This one is 16" x 6’3 x 21" x 2 5/8" x 16" [with an 8" pod]

A ‘South Coast Surfboards’ Bonzer3 …

yes, that’s a plant behind Ross [not some strange wing on the board] , and yes , the board is an orange TINT !

cheers,

ben

Ummm…someone stole one of my projects from my mind!!!

…it’s STILL there !

cheers,

ben

edit … went in to check today , and the guy who had it on consignment now has it back at his place …

The orange bonzer looks like a lot of fun. Ben, I like the way you color coordinate your jacket with your “go aheads.” Very stylish! Mike

I live just down the street from “Icons of Surf” in San Clemente, by far the most core shop Ive ever been in (core being more boards than tshirts in the shop)

They’ve got the most ridiculous selection of Fish (Bing, KG, Zippy…) Bonzers, old school logs, new school logs, singlefins (Brewer, Linden…) quads… Actually, I think Ive only seen 3 thrusters in there the year and a half theyve been open. You can literally spend hours in Icons getting ideas. The Wegeners are making some nice old school logs and Jed Nolls got a good hand too.

I’ll see if Ken will let me snap some pics, but if your ever this way, stop in a drool awhile…

thanks "A’ ,

I’d LOVE to see some shots !

…I reckon the shops that sell mainly boards are GREAT , and they remind me of my childhood and teenage years in Sydney .

ben

there arn’t any core shops anymore around here where there are more boards than clothes but we have a few good ones. i don’t think there are any spectacular boards in right now.

The Clyde Beatty shop in SB, Ca has practically nothing but boards. I don’t recall seeing any wetsuits, sunglasses or any of the other stuff that turns a profit for most shop owners.

Easternpacific gave me the tour and I got to meet Magicman (Steve Brom) and get a behind the scenes look at the shaping stalls.

Sure, the Beach House (around the corner) is a virtual museum as well as being a fully loaded surf shop but Clyde’s has a “down home” charm all it’s own. If it’s “core” you’re after, check it out.

I agree. I’ve talked to Beatty and walked around the shop with him a couple times. That guy gets me genuinely pumped up. Totally into what he does, as it should be. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch him in his sweats with socks and flip flops. Classic.

photos please !

‘Rooster’ Mike …, I just realised "go aheads " must mean what we here call "thongs’ * [do you guys call them “slaps” as well ?] …the guy with the matching jacket and thongs is not , in fact, me …it is Ross , the owner of Longboards Scarborough , my local shop…

cheers ,

ben
  • we call what you call your butt floss “thongs” there , "g-strings’ , here .

the latest , by Ross ! [that’s the original '80s checkered , channel bottom thruster , in the background , by the way …]
