Hi Bob, theres a prior thread here where all sorts of amazing adaptations are shown. Lots of pix too. I cant remember the name of the thread but sure as all get out, someone will drop in and name it precisely.
Damn dementia…
Great examples from the best,as always here.
YouknowwhoIam.
Tried to find the thread myself but to no avail… Surfco Hawaii (of the Nose Guard fame) sells a stick-on that some of the guys here like (https://surfcohawaii.com/product_info.php?products_id=4&XTCsid=6i58ldchna970ldrqru7v5u2s1) or you could do the simple but elegant glass-on leash loop. Much info in the archives…
Drill a 1/2-5/8 inch hole through the board. Then fill the hole with chopped glass and resin. Add you favorite pigment color for flair. Then drill out the resin plug hole out with a 1/4-3/8 inch bit and counter sink top and bottom. Now run a doubled up peice of leash rope with a knot at one end. Push rope though bottom so loop pops out top. Presto Leash loop.
Or do a glass on leash loop, but you didn’t say if the board was fiberglassed or just varnished? The hole plug thing is really strong. Just remember to put a rail saver on the leash.
Thanks all. I think the old threads may be found under, amongst other threads:

Here’s the discussion about how I attached a leash loop to my varnished board.

There were a lot of great ideas posted in this thread. Below are some pics of how I ended up solving the problem. I I recently took the board out in overhead surf, and it held strong.
