yes or no? why?
im going to chat to the sales guy now but will check back here for last minute info in an hour or two…if you know something i dont please let me know…
please no suggestions for using normal surfboard pigments! hahahahah just an answer to the question above would be great!
or why i shouldnt use ‘universal’ liquidly dyes…
scratch that…the shop wont sell less then 300ml. i was told they did…they dont…guess ill grab the few colours i can from the surf supply joint and see what magic mixes i can conjore…very disapointing…
but the dye question still stands! whats your experiance with universal tints or whatever they are… the orange i tested was a beautiful colour! seemed to gel and cure as normal…
i may even punt with that stuff. ol matey whos board it is will get his wish after all.
ie; ‘go for it’ he said(test the dyes on his)…ill be saying ‘i told you so’ till the cows come home trying to clean off the guilt ill feel for selling him a shity board.
guess an opaque over the top may save him…or me…bah. *pulling hair out… hahahahah
best way to learn hey…
Hey,
In Australia our auto paints are still petroleum based - many’s the time I’ve chucked in a thimble of colour from my art pots for a lam. You won’t get a strong pigment, only a tint. I would’nt put tons in, and it will affect your gel-time and I assume, the strength.
I have been known to pigment a q-cell mix for ding fixing with ordinary house paint - that works too, but again, not too much!

yeah, years ago i threw in paint from the spray room where i was working at the time…no idea what i was doing just had an idea… seemed fine for what i expected to happen… remembering that makes me think the experts are being finicky…
will see how i go trying to recreate the swirly magic ive seen here…
