in the new surfers path mag, page 64, photo of chris malloy on a fully blade out , 7’1" by 18.75 by 22.5 by 15 roundtail. nose rocker 3.75, tail 1", showing how to lay it out backside.
Le’see it.
i think kp has a copy of the picture. hopefully he’ll post it…
That is a beautiful picture of Chris, love the rail grab…
but isn’t he goofy, therefore going frontside?
I called Matt and reminded him of this fact, He’s like OOOHHHH YEAH , DOOHHH I figured he was hittin the eggnog early, still an epic turn.
hey speaking of which… i had my liddle Pber out on a reef left yesterday. First time backside on a hull for me, and on a legdey spot with lots of juice… maybe headhigh faces … but hey i actually liked it… you could just gouge the bottom turns and then fly off up and lateral with loads of speed… backside cutbacks i find much easier and with more power than frontside.
Hi Jason-
Looks like you’re starting to see the magic in these boards. Coming from a goofy-foot in a land of right hand breaks, I’ve discovered how much fun backside can be. I love the look on peoples’ faces when a section closes in front of me and I just bottom turn, lean it on the rail and shoot around the section, right on the tail of the guy dropping in. Not saying it happens every day, but when it does, it’s a thing of beauty.
ni egg nog invilved…i’m just use to surfing with chris who rides his stubbie switchfoot.my goof…
Sorry matt wasn’t trying to give you a hard time. I just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right picture.
Chris hulling it switch… Now that would be pretty amazing to see…
no worries, my blunder…not too many lefts were we surf, so chris took it upon himself to ride his stubbies switchfoot to get the full effect…
last night , i was watching “waves of change” [also re-released as “the sunshine sea”] . and also , ‘the innermost limits of pure fun’ , and 'children of the sun ’ , too perhaps ? .
there is quite a lot of water and land footage of hulls being surfed in ‘waves of change’ , for anyone wanting to check out footage …
cheers
